Love of Learning

Code Heroes, Founder & CEO, Brendt Sheen

Hi, my name is Brendt. I’m the Founder and CEO of Code Heroes.

I love learning. I love solving problems. I love computers. I always have.

My parents purchased our first computer when I was six. That doesn’t mean much today, but in 1986, it was a big deal. I was the first kid in my school to have an x86 Intel computer, while most other kids with a computer at home had a Commodore 64.

I loved the x86; it had a 2MB hard drive and 4Mhz processor, and I spent countless hours teaching myself how it worked. Back then, there was no Internet, and the adults in my life couldn’t help. To learn, I had to teach myself. I soon realised that if I persisted, I could solve any problem. I’d made countless mistakes, some small, some big, and some bigger than big. But I’ve always been able to recover, and I’ve always ended up in a better place.

Why am I telling you this? Solving problems with computers is at the core of what we do here at Code Heroes. I want you to know I’ve been doing this my entire life. My love of computers started as far back as I can remember, decades before I founded Code Heroes and decades before it was how I made a living.

I’m lucky I get to make a living doing something I love. I’m telling you this story because it matters to you, and this is why. If you are reading this, you need a problem solved. You may have looked at existing solutions. You may have even tried some of those. You may have asked others for advice. You may have even decided to do nothing, to ignore the problem.

Whatever your journey until now, you are reading this as you know the solution to your problem doesn’t exist, and you need help creating it. Ask yourself, do you want to work with people who love what they do? People who would do the work regardless of how they make their living, like I did throughout my childhood and early adult life.
